Farewell To A King: Prince Has Passed Away, Age 57

In devastating news, musical icon and inspiration to millions, Prince has passed away.
He allegedly passed away peacefully in his home in Minnesota, age 57.
There has been no immediate details around his death – it was first reported by TMZ who cited sources ‘close to him’ – but his publicist Anna Meacham has confirmed the influential musicians passing, saying,

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”

According to the sheriff’s report, the singer was found unconscious in his home elevator:

The star was taken to hospital last week after suffering from a case of influenza after a show in Atlanta, which is now his last performance. It was at Fox Theatre last week, and he performed ‘Purple Rain’ as his last song.
TMZ reported that the singer “felt considerably worse” after the show, prompting an emergency landing in Illinois. He was released from hospital 3 hours later.
He attended a party the same night before his hospitalisation, reportedly making light of his illness and telling people, “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers”.
Tributes are flooding in all over social media, and fans have been gathering out the front of Paisley Park Studios to pay tribute.
MTV has announced they are changing their logo to the colour purple in honour of the legendary musician, and everything he did to make the music industry what it is today.
