Death Grips Announce Break Up

Sacramento’s genre-hopping hip hop warlocks Death Grips have officially broken up, revealing the news via the non-conventional medium of a note written on a napkin which they then posted to Facebook.

The note reads: we are now at our best and so Death Grips is over. we have officially stopped. all currently scheduled live dates are canceled. our upcoming double album “the powers that b” will still be delivered worldwide later this year via Harvest/Third Worlds Records. Death Grips was and always has been a conceptual art exhibition anchored by sound and vision. above and beyond a “band”. to our truest fans, please stay legend.

The trio – rapper/vocalist Stefan Burnett aka MC Ride, drummer Zach Hill and producer Flatlander – have five albums to their name and were synonymous with giving zero fucks and maintaining a general lack of music biz professionalism, an attitude manifested in cancelled shows, not turning up for performances and a fallout with their record label after leaking their own album.

The band still plans to release their upcoming double album the powers that b later this year.
Time to go to our “happy” place.
