Dave Hughes and Ruby Rose Vote Too

In a bid to turn the 1.4 million Australians missing from the electoral roll into registered voters (70 percent are between the ages of 18 and 39) The Australian Electoral Commission have enlisted a slew of local celebrities to spruik their newly launched Famous People Vote Too campaign. Because if Famous People jumped off a cliff that cliff would be pretty rad.

Launched earlier this week, the initiative goes for the Gen Y jugular with video testimonials from media personality Ruby Rose, comedian Dave Hughes, swimmer Eamon Sullivan, actors Aaron Pederson and Matthew Werkmeister and models Tahnee Atkinson and Laura Dundovic.

Obviously any initiative that encourages Australian youth to have their say is great us but we do think Rose’s designer tag is a little premature (maybe because Media Personalities Vote Too is a mouthful?) and the wooden celebrity videos just might be the most awkward thing we’ve seen this week. But hey, we’ll take cringe-inducing videos over non-voter genocide any day.
