Dappled Cities’ Tim Unveils Solo Video And LP Details

Sydney’s guitar-swapping orchestral-popsmiths Dappled Cities are due for some new tunes. After all, it’s been almost four years since the release of their terrifically ambitious sophomore, Zounds (2009). The good news is the band is currently readying new album Lake Air, due out later this year, with the first single “Run with the Wind” out next week. “It’s a banger!” we were told by Dappled’s guitarist/vocalist Tim Derricourt. Tim gave us a few details of the forthcoming Dappled Cities record, and a look at his thoroughly enjoyable solo project, Swimwear.

First thing’s first; enjoy the first look at Tim’s Swimwear video clip for “Nowhere To Run” from debut EP The Kissing Machine which came out in February. He told Pedestrian, “It was a load of fun making it – I just grabbed my iPhone and shot me having a lot of fun over summer and then chopped it up into a film clip. It’s what the EP is all about, so it’s what the video clip’s about too – home made, fun times.”

Tim said that he’s hoping to put out an album under the Swimwear moniker sometime in the future. He told Pedestrian, “I’m definitely gonna make one hell of an album. I might crack out another EP first just to keep the vibe going then head into full album territory sometime later in the year.”

For the new Dappled Cities album the band collaborated with some impressive talent, including Handsome Boy Modeling School/Gorillaz founder Dan The Automator, Californian production prodigy Jarrad Kritzstein, and the supremely talented songwriter and The Magnetic Heads regular Des Miller.

So there’s a lot to look forward to. Keep your ears alert for the release of “Run with the Wind” next week and make sure you check out Swimwear.
