Damn Arms Stage Comeback On Cut Copy’s Label

*Pedestrian Exclusive News

Everyone’s fave electronic-punksters and Jesse’s favourite Australian band Damn Arms have been oddly quiet since the release of The Live Artex late last year. Apparently the gang have bunkered down to work on something completely new. Reporting from the inside, keyboard-impresario Yama has said that the tunes will be totally removed from The Live Artex and its tech-punk mesh.

‘The music is completely different. It’s got a very glam/disco/feel good/italo/relaxed vibe; very synth/vocoder/talkbox heavy with live bass. It’s vaguely comparable to classic disco funk composition (i.e Chic, Moroder, Rick James, various other Italo stuff) with sounds & production probably comparable to Fred Falke or Sébastien Tellier, maybe a little nod towards a slightly more vintage sound (i.e. Johnny Jewel’s production and Chromatics/Glass candy).’ So, basically that’s a big fat ‘wow’.

But what’s more interesting than their new direction is that Damn Arms’ new stuff will first see light on Cutters Records, Cut Copy’s own label.

“It looks like two 12″ vinyls (one on Cutters) stunted by a month or two. Two originals on each, two remixes on each. Remixes so far from Cut Copy, Breakbot & Knightlife. Then there will be a full length a couple of months after the vinyl.”

The gang will return from hibernation to play their first shows in 6 months in late September (at Parklife) and then more in October for some Cutters launch parties.
The even better news is that we won’t be waiting long to hear what they’ve cooked up. A new Damn Arms track will be up on the band’s MySpace ‘any day now’ and more tracks going up almost weekly after that.
Get excited.
