Cop A Listen To Green Day’s 1st Song ‘Bang Bang’ From New “Political” Album

HOLY SHIT.

Huge and iconic 90s pop-punk band Green Day have not only just announced a new, “political” album ‘Revolution Radio’, they’ve also dropped the first single and music video from it, titled ‘Bang Bang‘.
And it is truly a modern snippet of what Green Day do best – taking huge, real issues and reducing they down to very few chords and angsty slogans.
As you might have picked up from the name, ‘Bang Bang‘ is written from the perspective of a school shooter. Lyrics include “Daddy’s little psycho”, and “I’m sweating bullets like a modern day Romeo”
Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong spoke to Rolling Stone about it, and said this about the creation of the song:
“It’s about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media.

There’s this sort of rage happening, but it’s also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance.

To me, that is so twisted. To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky. It freaked me out. After I wrote it, all I wanted to do was get that out of my brain because it just freaked me out.”
So... erm – enjoy:
They’re ‘American Idiot’-ing again people, so regardless of whether you hated the era or loved it – just be prepared.
‘Revolution Radio‘ is dropping on October 7th, 2016.
