Chris Lilley Is A Dental Nurse, Rapping Tortoise In Stafford Bros’ New Video

Chris Lilley has been relatively MIA for a while now, since Jonah From Tonga dropped with mixed reviews last year.

Emerging from a minor hiatus in the only way he knows how, Lilley has thrust himself back into the spotlight through four costume/character changes for—of all things—Gold Coast duo The Stafford Brothers’ ‘When You Feel This’.

Why, exactly?

Lilley plays a dancing dental nurse, a rapping tortoise and the Stafford bros themselves for the video, released today through Funny Or Die.

It’s so fucking quiche.

Lilley spoke with the Courier Mail about the video, describing how he pitched the idea to the duo – and they bloody ran with it.

“With this one I sent the idea off and thought `They’re gonna hate it, it’s too weird’ and they came back and said they love it, I could do whatever I wanted to do and they were gonna back off and let me completely control. It’s so rare for that to happen with someone else’s project.

Lilley also spoke about the similarities between Ja’mie and the nurse:

“Well, she has the same face as Ja’mie, but she’s a 30-something, insecure woman who has this mundane job but has this fantasy of living the dream of being the star.

I was trying to make a video that stays with you, I wanted the blue nurse dress to become a slightly sluttier version of that iconic look. I wanted her to take something from her everyday life into the daydream so she took this turtle. And I liked playing an animal.”
