Chance The Rapper Is Apparently Dropping His New Album In Literal Days

Hey there. How’s your week going? Decent? Average? Fairly run-of-the-mill? You might want to prepare for a severe upswing in mood, because apparently Chance the Rapper is gearing up to drop an entire new album in a literal few days’ time.

The innovative and enigmatic Chicago native casually let slip that a new album – a follow-up to 2016’s critically beloved Coloring Book – is just about done in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.

Chance, who is a notoriously independent artist, release Coloring Book via a deal with Apple Music, one that netted him $500,000 for the two-week streaming exclusivity deal alone.

As for whatever this album is, we know it’s coming extremely soon. We just ah… don’t exactly know when or how yet.

Chance asserted that his options are many thanks to the myriad of different streaming services available nowadays, and that he’s in the fortunate position where he doesn’t have to cede control of his own destiny to any record label or contract dictating terms for him.

I’ve never been against selling music. Music has value. I put my music out there for free because I wanted people to see and notice it as a beacon for what I’m doing, in terms of how unorthodox I wanted my approach and my delivery of each piece of music to be. On the other side, it’s not really difficult for me to make music and deliver it to the fans, because there are so many more platforms now, a bunch of streaming sites. The bigger concern for artists now is navigating the legal issues of owning your music, your publishing, your distribution. It has been difficult for me to release music with artists who work with the majors.

Chance also casually let slip that a collaboration with Kanye West is finally on the way, with two songs worked on during a visit to West’s infamous ranch in Wyoming recently.

As for the new album, old mate asserts that it’s fresh as hell and it’ll definitely be here before the weekend, in time for his headlining appearance at the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Concert, which he helped produce and is also set to feature the likes of UsherSmokey RobinsonJason Mraz and more.

I got that feeling when people do something that has a new feel to it. I’m excited for everybody to get that. It’s going to come out just in time for the Special Olympics.

So there you have it. New Chance the Rapper. This week. At some point. Via somewhere.

Keep yr ears and eyes peeled, mates.
