Cardi B Makes History As First Female Rapper With 3 No. 1s On Billboard 100

Cardi B has shattered records once again by becoming the first and only female rapper with 3 No.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. WASHPOPPIN’.

After 6 weeks in at No. 2, Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You”, featuring Cardi, recently nabbed the top spot on the charts. This is Cardi’s third No. 1, following “I Like It” alongside Bad Bunny and J Balvin back in July and “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” last October.

Our queen posted a video on her Instagram talking about the monumental occasion. “This my third number fucking 1,” she said. “I don’t give a fuck if I’m a feature on that song, bitch. I’m on that shit, bitch. I’m on that shit. Let’s go.” Tell ’em, sis.

According to Cardi, however, this collab with Maroon 5 almost never happened. Apparently her management was worrying about the pop direction Cardi’s tunes were heading in.

“I already did two pop records,” she explains, “and my team felt like, ‘Yo, it’s too early in your career to be doing pop, pop, pop and you really don’t got a lot urban out like that’.”

“But i was like, ‘Yo, trust my judgement – like this is a motherfucking hit’, and for some reason, when I heard this song for the first time, it made me want to cry. Maybe because I was pregnant with a girl, and the words are just so beautiful.”

Cardi also poked a little fun at Drake, whose track”In My Feelings” led the charts for mammoth 10 weeks. “We’re here – number 1. It took us a while because of that damn Drake blocking us, but we here.”
