This is something really, really special. If you’re familiar with the evocative, undulating experimentation of cult Japanese outfit Boredoms, you’ll be well aware of their ambitious Boadrum series. Back story: For their first, 77 Boadrum, Boredoms coordinated 77 drummers to perform for 77 minutes on the 07/07/07 at 7.07pm. 88 Boadrum involved 88 drummers playing on the 08/08/08 for two simultaneous 88 minute performances. One headlined by Gang Gang Dance in Brooklyn and the other by Boredoms in Los Angeles. The most recent, Boadrum 9 was a more stripped back affair with 9 drummers playing at Terminal 5 in NYC on 09/09/09.
Now, it’s just been announced that Boadrum 10 will be staged in Melbourne with help from Melbourne drummers Evelyn Morris, Cameron Potts and Mat Watson. It’ll take place at the Forum Theatre on 10/10/10 as part of the month long Melbourne festival and anyone within a 100km radius with 20 dollars in their pocket has absolutely no excuse not to go.
