Blink-182 Drop Brand New Single ‘Blame It On My Youth’ & We’re Feeling This

Bust out your basic black and summon those feelings of teen angst ‘coz quintessential pop-punk band Blink-182 are back with a brand new single, aptly named ‘Blame It On My Youth’.

It’s the iconic band’s first release with their new label, Columbia Records and gives fans a taste of what’s to come on their upcoming album.

‘BIOMY’ is quite the departure from the ’00s bops that you remember listening to as a mad-at-the-world adolescent, being more on the pop side than the rock side.

While the sound feels like a bit of a departure for the three-piece, the lyrics are as Blink as they’ve always been.

On the track, Mark Hoppus sings:

I wasn’t born with the rich blood
I started out with plenty of nothing at all
I got stuck in the thick mud
The flash flood, punk rock, and the alcohol
I was raised on a rerun

There are also shoutouts to their previous tracks, as the band has been known to do, including a reference to 2016 song ‘Bored To Death’.

On the chorus, the lads promise to continue doing their shtick as they’ve been kicking since “1999”.

You could never kill my high
I’m the ink and you’re the headline (Oh)
Blame it, blame it on my youth
Blame it, blame it on my youth
You can never block my shine
I’ve been lost since 1999 (Oh)
Blame it, blame it on my youth
Blame it, blame it on my youth
(Blame, blame, blame on my youth)
