The official inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris into their presidential term is happening in under a week, and the artists locked in to perform could be mistaken for a Super Bowl halftime show. Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez are set to perform on January 20, and a whole host of other artists are pinned for a ‘yuge concert in the lead up to the big day.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced this week that Lady Gaga will be appearing at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol to perform the national anthem, while Jenny from the block is geared up to perform a “musical number”, which I can only hope is reminiscent of that performance at the Super Bowl last year.
In case you’ve blanked it from your memory (I cannot blame you, it’s been a big 12 months) here’s what happened last time J.Lo appeared to tear the house down.
Legit, I can’t wait for Jennifer Lopez to get out there with that immense power. Bring those leather chaps to the Capitol, mum. Please, I beg of you.
These two huge ins for the official inauguration is absolutely, without a doubt, going to provide us mere plebs with so much wholesome content of Biden and Kamala having a little boogie, too. I can just feel it in my bones.
I am deeply honored to be joining @BidenInaugural on January 20 to sing the National Anthem and celebrate the historic inauguration of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris! ???? pic.twitter.com/MfgcG3j4Aa

The Inaugural Committee also announced a virtual We The People concert for January 17th, which will see the likes of Fall Out Boy, Will.I.Am, Carole King, Ben Harper, and heaps more perform in a big ol’ gig hosted by Debra Messing and Keegan-Michael Key.
On January 17th, we’re coming together for a special “We the People Concert” ????

Hosted by @KeeganMKey and @DebraMessing, join us for this pre-inaugural event with @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris.
Truly just such a mid-00s Coachella of a lineup, there.
Some people have been a bit amused at the inclusion of 00s pop-punk powerhouse Fall Out Boy, but real stans know that bassist Pete Wentz probably wouldn’t exist without Biden’s input (as weird as that sounds).
His parents actually met while volunteering for Biden’s first senate campaign in the 70s, so his band performing for Biden’s presidential inauguration celebrations is some real full-circle shit.
so joe biden is the reason pete wentz exists, thus why fall out boy exists, and now fall out boy is performing at biden’s inauguration…life has come full circle
