Wantonly flouting the sacred dictum of #TBT, Beyoncé has just gone H.A.M. with a succession of #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlayin’ throwbacks on Instagram, breaking her silence for the first time since – ICYMI – footage leaked on Monday of her younger sister Solange engaging her husband Jay Z in vicious fisticuffs.
The first photo is captioned ‘Good Morning [Bee Emoji]’ and the last is taken from Coachella exactly a month ago, where Bey joined Solo onstage for the dance break of ‘Losing You’ and it was literally everything. The three remaining photos are presented without contextualising commentary, leaving them open to interpretation and over-analysis.
Could they be further examples of Yoncé’s patented brand of holier-than-thou social media shade? Are these the photos Solange reportedly purged from her Instagram in the dead of night hoping that no one would notice? Probably not, because that theory has been all but debunked.
Or, per the lyrics of Beyoncé’s ‘Rocket‘, are these “so much more than pointless fixtures/Instagram pictures/Consumers/What about that ching-ching-ching [what about that, what about that ching-ching?]”?
You decide, only because it’s looking less and less likely you’re going to get much more of a statement than this, and you’re clearly very invested in it all.
