Beyoncé And Solange’s Dad Breaks Silence Over Infamous Jay-Z Elevator Fight

Whomst could forget the infamous post-2014 Met Gala elevator scuffle between Jay-Z and Solange Knowles?

After the leaked CCTV footage of the brutal attack in The Standard Hotel‘s elevator made the rounds, Bey released a statement about how her husband and sister had “worked through” their undisclosed disagreement, while Solange insisted she was “at peace” with the incident.

But apart from that flavourless tea bag of a statement, we plebians were left to decipher clues laid out in the Knowles/Carter empire’s various albums. *Sips lemonade*.

Now, a full four years after the melee, Beyoncé and Solange’s dad, Mathew Knowles, has said his piece.

Appearing on The Wendy Williams Show in the US, Papa Knowles reckons he “laughed so hard” when he first heard about the brawl:

“I have to tell you, I laughed so hard. I laughed so hard because, if you know Solange — that’s Solange,” the 66-year-old quipped.

“You just never know what you’re going to get … firecracker,” he added. “Don’t know where she get that from…”

Is it… you, Mathew? Are you a bit of a firecracker darl?

mmm yyyes

“Beyonce would be in the corner, quiet,” he went on to share, with a laugh. Too right she is (for the majority of the fight, Queen Bey could be seen literally standing in the corner, still).

While Daddy Knowles didn’t really delve into details, his jovial attitude towards the fucked fight goes to show the family have forgiven and forgotten.

And look, honestly, if I could make a bajillion bucks outta the daily fights I have with my sister I’d be happy to bury the hatchet, too.
