‘Back To The Future’ Is Heading To The West End, That’s The Power Of Love

Producers have now confirmed that a show adapted from one of the best film franchises of all time, starring Michael J. Fox will open in London’s West End sometime in 2015, just in time for the 30th anniversary of the film and the release of the holofilm ‘Jaws 19‘. How times flies when you’re having fun rewatching Back to the Future, Back to the Future II and Back to the Future III over and over again.

The musical will be written by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale and Jamie Lloyd with music and lyrics composed by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. The song list may, but most likely will not include: ‘Overture (“Rock and Roll”)’, ‘Sounds Pretty Heavy / Weight Has Nothing To Do With it (Medley)’, ‘Manurrr! I Hate Manurrr (Reprise)’, ‘Get Your Meat Hooks Off Of Me’ and ‘Your Kids Are Going To Love It’.

Jamie Lloyd, who is also set to direct, has said in a statement: “The production will include illusions, skateboarding and many other surprises that will capture the spirit of the film but freshly interpret it for a new audience.”

Other confirmed hires include Soutra Gilmour on set and costume design, Paul Kieve on ‘illusions’, lighting design by Jon Clark, musical supervision by Alan Williams and Andrew Willis will be ‘skateboard consultant’/the proud owner of the gnarliest job title in the history of theatre.

Fuckin’ pumped to get enchanted under the sea and for all of this:
