Australian Open Announces Surprisingly Good Live Music Lineup For 2014

If you like a racket with your racquets, you’ll be happy to hear that the annual Celebration Of Being Really Interested In Tennis For Exactly Two Weeks (ie. the Australian Open) rolls around once again in January 2014, and Melbourne’s own Mushroom Group have just announced the actually quite excellent musical lineup that they’ve taken the liberty of curating for the Open’s Heineken Live Stage.

You’re likely to Love All fourteen bands and artists playing over all fourteen days, with the singles finals nights headlined by the reigning mens indie champions The Rubens and the top-seeded womens singer/songwriter Clare Bowditch. The full lineup, like the Open, is a diverse mix of rising stars and veterans, with rookies like Saskwatch, World’s End Press and The Preatures going toe to toe with the likes of Daryl Braithwaite and John Stevens. Victoria Azarenka‘s squeeze Redfoo didn’t quite make the lineup this year, with the sole “very special” international guest being BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong.

The performances will take place from 6 – 7pm each day and will be open to all Australian Open spectators.
