I’m all for credible musicians scoring films (Johnny Greenwood in “There Will Be Blood” and Air in “The Virgin Suicides” worked amazingly well) so you can imagine my excitement as reports have surfaced that Arcade Fire are set to record the score for the upcoming Richard Kelly film (of Donnie Darko fame). The premise however is slightly dubious: An unhappily married couple (played by Cameron Diaz and James Marsden) receive a box from a mysterious stranger who tells them that pushing a button on the box will award them with a large monetary sum, and simultaneously, someone the couple does not know will die. Mmmmm…
