Getting married this year? Just like looking at pretty wedding-related stuff? Whatever the case, welcome. No matter what type of bride you are (super invested, CBF with details, do-it-yourself) you’ve surely at least had a small peek on the monstrous ideas-site that is Pinterest. It’s like an encyclopaedia of getting hitched ideas, and the first place to go for inspo if you’re a bit brain-blocked.
There’s a LOT of trends, but we’ve narrowed it down to the ones we’re really loving / reckon will have you pinning like a madperson in record time.
Use metal sculptures to house smaller floral pieces – you’ll save cash on flowers (a notorious money-drainer) and it’s a point of difference from usual centrepieces.
2. PHOTO WALLS
Instead of your traditional photo booth, people are going to be opting for photo walls and set-ups, allowing for both guests to take party pics, as well as the bridal party to take some mid-reception snaps.
3. NEON SIGNS
Neon signs were a big hit last year, and they’ll continue to be a reception vibe for 2019 – although we reckon the trend will be more quotes that reflect the couple’s relationship vibes as opposed to names.
Sleeves are set to be a huge bridal trend for 2019 – whether they’re full length or 3/4.
5. HANGING GREENERY
When it comes to decor, hang your floristry from the roof rather than lay it along the table. Colour scheme? Leafy greenery.
6. GOLD WEDDING GOWNS
Maybe it’s the royal wedding of 2018 making us all want a touch of princess to our bridal look, but gold wedding gowns were up search-wise toward the end of 2018.
7. SMOKE BOMBS
8. BRIDAL JUMPSUITS
Whether you’re not a dress person, or you’re looking for a reception outfit bc your dress is hectic – wedding jumpsuits are chic as hell and on the up trend-wise, so expect to see them in stores this year.
9. MESSY HAIR
The undone bun has gotten even more unruly when it comes to bridal hair trends – or just let your waves fall free, and add detail with plaits or pins.
10. RUST-COLOURED SUITS
Whether it’s more on the orange or red spectrum, rust coloured suits are becoming the colour trend for grooms.Image: Pinterest
