Nintendo announced it would be adding some of their classic ’80s arcade games to the Switch console during their Nintendo Direct presentation this week. The titles will be a part of the company’s new Arcade Archives program.
Unlike their Virtual Console offerings, these will be fully downloadable ports for the Switch itself, and will even be tweaked a little. “These arcade games contain subtle differences that can’t be found in their NES counterparts,” Nintendo said in a release.
While everyone’s familiar with the classic Super Mario Bros., these ported games were more common in 1980s arcades than the consoles we all know so well. Some of these belters haven’t even been released outside of Japan before, like Vs. Clu Clu Land.
Here’s what Nintendo have announced so far:
Mario Bros.
Vs. Super Mario Bros.
Vs. Balloon Fight
Vs. Ice Climber
Vs. Pinball
Vs. Clu Clu Land
Vs. Punch-Out!!
Coupla Vs. up there, hey. The first game available will be Mario Bros. on the 27th of September, but there’s no price announced just yet. The rest of the titles are “coming soon” according to Nintendo.
And because the very original Mario Bros. is old as hell, here’s a refresher on what it actually looks like. Classic.
