Kristen Stewart Says The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot Will Be A “Woke Version”

A little while ago we all copped the news that yet another reboot was in the works at Hollywood, this time – Charlie’s Angels.

Elizabeth Banks, known for her roles in The Hunger Games and The Walk of Shame will helm the film and star in it alongside Kristen Stewart and Naomi Scott. Already, the film’s shaking things up with Banks taking on the role of Bosley, a role traditionally played by a man.

In the 2000 and 2003 Charlie’s Angels starring Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz the role of Bosley was played by Bill Murray and Bernie Mac, respectively.

Details of the reboot are still under wraps but so far we 100 per cent know Stewart will be one of our badass angels. And during an interview promoting her new film, Lizzie, Stewart said the reboot is: “kind of like a ‘woke’ version.”

“[It’s] still gonna be fun and ‘Charlie’s Angels’-y, but will also be current and modern,” the actor told Variety

So maybe less of this?

Stewart also shared that instead of just concentrating on three angels, the reboot will introduce us to a “whole network of angels.”

“Women across the entire globe are connected and helping each other.”

I mean, that does sound pretty damn cool.

No word yet on whether Liu, Barrymore, and Diaz will make a cameo in the film but Stewart said she’d “hit them up” so here’s bloody hoping.

Diaz has since retired from acting as she said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly back in March but you can catch Liu in Elementary or Netflix‘s stellar romcom Set It Up, and Barrymore is absolutely killing it (literally) on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet.

You can expect to see the rebooted Charlie’s Angels flick in late 2019.

In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for Stewart’s latest film below, co-starring Chloë Sevigny.
