Your First Look At The Sentinels, Peter Dinklage In New X-Men Sequel

As longtime fans of the X-Men graphic novels or mid 90s animated television series will know, Sentinels are pretty much the biggest and most humourless douche bags in the universe. They’re like vikings on meth but with the power to fly, laser guns and an insatiable appetite for mutant blood. For those who don’t, the technologically advanced agents of genocide, fear and mutant anxiety issues are man-made robots marked with the ability to track and kill mutants because that is what their human overlords have programmed them to do on the ethical basis of humans rule, fuck muties.

We get our first look at the generic robot antagonists in the upcoming Bryan Singer-directed X-Men sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, thanks to a viral site purported to be that of Trask Industries, the villainous tech and genetics corporation responsible for the Sentinels’ invention, design and manufacture. Something Trask is obviously very proud of.

To wit, this emotionally manipulative Trask advertisement – “Your Future” – which feels like it could be for a mobile phone brand but actually is about slaying mutants with giant murder robots.

We also get our first proper glimpse at Game of Thrones Emmy-winner Peter Dinklage as Sentinel inventor and dude with immense porn ‘stache, Bolivar Trask.

Oof.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014.
