We love the work of oddball polymath Miranda July, and ever since we experienced her daring whimsical movie debut Me and You and Everyone We Know about the complexities of love and poo-related emoticons, we’ve been eagerly anticipating her next big screen endeavour: The Future.
At the start of this year we picked it as one of the most anticipated movies of 2011 without having much of an idea what it’s actually about – except that it has something to do with a couple and their pet cat. Finally an official trailer has been released for The Future and, true to form, it looks like more of July’s warm and wonderful weirdness.
The Australian premiere of The Future will be part of the Sydney Film Festival program but keep your fingers crossed that it will get a national release.
