Tom Cruise, the man single-handedly responsible for roughly 43%* of all action films created in the past thirty years, has confirmed that percentage is set to rise even further: Top Gun 2 is a go, baby.
Taking to Sunrise a lil’ earlier this morning, the bloke practically broke the psyches of hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch by confirming that the zoomy, shooty, planey flick will start shooting in the next year.

It’s been a point of speculation for yonks, especially considering the fact Cruise hasn’t exactly taken it easy on the sequels. Sequels for Mission Impossible, Jack Reacher, and even for Edge Of Tomorrow are all in the pipeline.
Hell, old mate even did one on Brendan Fraser to reboot The Mummy.
No word yet on whether Val Kilmer will return as Iceman, but he recently told fans during a Reddit AMA sesh that he’s keen. Specifically, he said “Hell yes. What a hoot it will be…”
If all things go to plan, we might end up with a rematch to the greatest cinematic volleyball match of all time.

*Not an entirely accurate percentage. It’s closer to a mere 40%.
