WATCH: The Big ‘Far Cry 5’ Reveal Trailer Is As Batshit As You’d Hoped

After several days of fraught internet discussions, the trailer for Ubisoft‘s Far Cry 5 has landed, and now all is said and done, it looks … very much like a Far Cry game. The newest-instalment of the long-running first-person shooter series features guns, ‘splosions, wild animals and batshit crazy baddies aplenty, this time in the western U.S. state of Montana
In the game, you play as a sheriff’s deputy who arrives in the fictional Hope County to discover that a doomsday cult named Eden’s Gate, led by the villainous Father John Steed, has taken over the whole region. The game sees you fight back against the cult and rally various locals to join the resistance.
Not much else is known at this point, although it seems Far Cry 5 will continue the trend of big, beautiful open world settings, full of bases to capture, creatures to hunt, vehicles to hijack and characters to recruit.
Known features include a fully-customisable main character, and the ability to play the entire campaign in two-player co-op as well as solo. The ability to edit maps will return, with additional features that have not yet been announced.
Far Cry 5 is out February 27 2018 in the U.S., with an Australian release date to be confirmed. It will be available on PS4, XBox One and PC, but not Switch. Sorry, Switch owners. As well as the main trailer, Ubisoft dropped a few extras, so go ahead and check them all out below:
