WATCH: The 1st Teaser For The ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Looks Pretty Schmick

Rumours of a Blade Runner prequel or sequel have been floating around for yonks, with the sci-fi world on the edge of its proverbial seat to see how dramatically Hollywood would fuck up an attempt to revive Ridley Scott‘s pensive, philosophical classic.

Blade Runner 2049 is helmed by Denis Villeneuve, the Quebecois director behind the recent – and very, very good – sci-fi flick Arrival, which definitely presents a great deal more promise than might otherwise be attached to a revival like this. It also unfortunately stars Jared Leto in some role. Oh well. Slings and roundabouts.
The first teaser trailer has dropped, and thanks to Roger Deakin‘s always-wonderful cinematography, it looks pretty schmick. Take a peek:
Lots going on here – including the return of Harrison Ford‘s character Rick Deckard. Not much in the way of plot given away, apart from the fact Deckard appears to be hiding out in some kind of desert manor outside the Los Angeles setting of the original film.
Chalk us up as a bit excited.
