Watch: Studio Ghibli Video Game Trailer

The extraordinary Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli, co-founded by the brilliant filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle), has turned its attention from the movie theatre to the home entertainment centre: Ghibli has teamed up with video game developers Level-5 to produce a game for the Nintendo DS called ‘Ni No Kuni’.

As you might expect from the makers of the lush, visually dazzling worlds of their film work, for the game Ghibli have created a colourful fantasical world for the hero (a little boy called Oliver) to navigate with lots of strange creatures. Ni No Kuni is not due out in Japan until 2011 and details of an international release are yet to be announced.
