Studio Ghibli Is Finally Opening A Theme Park, So Organise Ya Japan 2020 Trip

FINALLY. The delightfully aesthetic world of Studio Ghibli is coming to life in amusement park form.

Chunichi Web reports (and translated by Anime News Network) that the beloved animated studio will be opening a park based on the 1988 film ‘My Neighbour Totoro‘, widely regarded as the most successful Ghibli films to date. (The main character Totoro is literally part of the Studio Ghibli logo.)

The ‘Ghibli Park’ will open at a 200-hectare area in Aichi‘s Expo Park, recreating the world of ‘My Neighbour Toroto’. A recreation of Satsuki and Mei‘s house already exists, but this is looking to expand the rest of the world.

It’s set to open in 2020, if you had some long-term Japan trips to get planning.

No word yet on whether or not any of Studio Ghibli’s other classics will be scoring the them park treatment, but one can hope, right?
