WATCH: Sherlock S4 Trailer Drops Intense Hints That Moriarty Lives

GODDAMN FINALLY.

*breathe in, breathe out*

The BBC have just dropped a trailer for Sherlock S4 is here, and we FINALLY have a release date: January 2, 2017.*

Clearly, your hungover plans have been sorted, please and thank you. Let Bentisnick Cumblesnatch‘s voice sooth you while you chunder in the dunny.

By the time it drops, we – the thirsty audiences desperately stanning Sherlock and Watson – will have been waiting almost three years between seasons (if you overlook that Victorian-era Christmas special). It is poetically cruel that one of the best shows on television takes fucking centuries to produce.

S4 hints at the return of Andrew Scott as Moriarty, which is basically where we left Sherlock at the end of S3. Can January come soon enough? No, friends, it cannot. We’ve got 9 weeks of Christmas-jingled hell to get through yet.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said Sherlock S4 was dropping January 1. Sadly, that is not the case, thanks to a lil jerk called ‘time difference’. Shortly after publication, we received word that S4 will stream exclusively on Stan on January 2, the same day it’ll be available in the US and UK.
