Philip Seymour Hoffman is such a great actor who so effortlessly portrays his various characters, that you can’t help but assume that his new ‘role’ – that of director – will be executed with a similar composure. His debut feature film on the other side of the camera, Jack Goes Boating and is a unconventional romantic comedy centered around two working-class New York City couples. Starring Hoffman himself and the terrific Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, HBO’s The Wire), as well as John Ortiz (American Gangster) and Daphne Rubin-Vega (Broadway’s “Rent”), here’s the first trailer for Jack Goes Boating.
