Just when you thought it was safe to put Marvel down for a little while – what with Deadpool smashing everything in its path at the box office at the moment – along comes the latest and biggest Daredevil trailer for season two to pull you straight back in.
The stupidly highly-acclaimed and phenomenally gritty Netflix series that focuses on Marvel’s blind lawyer “not really super” hero is on the cusp on unleashing season two upon the world. In preparation for this, the streaming giant has crafted one giant trailer split in twain, with part one surfacing earlier today.
The first half of the giant trailer shows us how things have gone from bad to worse thanks to the presence of Daredevil on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, and how his vigilante exploits are having the unintended effect of opening the door to higher calibre bad guys; the bigger the hero, the bigger the villain.
We get a good, terrifying look at Jon Bernthal‘s turn as Frank Castle, the man who eventually morphs into The Punisher, who will provide the focal point of the season.
And then right at the end, boom. There’s Élodie Yung as the ever-dangerous Elektra; a character with an integral role in Matt Murdock‘s past.
The synopsis for the new season looks a lil’ something like this.
“Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.”
“Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.”
Yes. Yes. Yes please.
The second half of the trailer is scheduled to for release on February 25th.
Season 2 of Daredevil arrives in full on Netflix on March 18th.
