Conan O’Brien recently took his show to Korea and, in what has to be a television first, was somehow able to talk his way into the demilitarised zone separating north and south.
He and fellow balls of steel-haver Steven Yuen managed to shoot a segment inside the joint security area, where military forces from north and south meet, effectively making North Korea‘s first late night talk show.
Conan defused the tension somewhat by joking around about the soldiers’ uniforms, and their proclivity for wearing sunglasses inside in the snow (it’s a strong look, TBH, and one that we’d try and pull off in a colder climate).
Even then, the pair appeared to be pissing themselves just slightly when they officially crossed over into North Korea’s part of the security area, to be watched over by severe-as-fuck looking guards and North Korean officials.
Fortunately, they didn’t do anything to incite another world war. Watch a little piece of television history being made:
