WATCH: Chrissy Teigen & John Legend Recreated The Upside-Down Spidey Smooch

If there’s one shining legacy of Sam Raimi‘s original Spider-Man films, it’s that nobody can do an upside-down kiss anymore without doing it as a riff on Spidey. It’s simply not possible to kiss your loved one while hanging upside down from some kind of web without being accused of plagiarism. What a world!

But there’s still room for the deliberate tribute. Transcendent angels Chrissy Teigen and John Legend recreated the legendary smooch – which, I repeat, happened in 2002 but is still somehow a relevant pop culture reference – for MTV‘s Lip Sync.

“I just wanted to see if it’s possible that I live out one of my biggest fantasies,” she says, hanging upside down before Legend steps out onto the stage.
An entire generation of people with a weird sexual fantasy gleaned from a 15-year-old Spider-Man movie. Truly, the world is doomed.
