UPDATE: Catherine Martin Wins Two Oscars For Best Costume Design, Production Design On ‘The Great Gatsby’

The 2014 Academy Awards are currently underway at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles where Australian costume designer turned rug designer turned legend Catherine Martin has won the evening’s second award for her work on her husband Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby
Pulling her thank you notes out of her bra (“A very Australian thing to do”), Martin thanked her costumier colleagues currently sewing in front of the television at the Strictly Ballroom: The Musical HQ in Sydney before she gave a shout out to Luhrmann, whom she thanked for “[making] it all possible. He dreams the dreams.”
This is Martin’s third Oscar (in addition to the two she garnered for Production Design and Costume Design on Moulin Rouge) recognising her integral work on Luhrmann’s films, which this time included exclusive collaborations with both Miuccia Prada and Brooks Brothers to shape the film’s exquisite costume department.
Also, she was wearing custom Prada and looked amazing. Congratulations, CM!
UPDATE: CM just won her fourth Oscar, more than any other Australian, for Best Production Design along with set decorator Beverly Dunn, giving a shout out to her children Lily and William in the process. Cute.
