Baz Luhrmann to Film Great Gatsby in Sydney

The wheels are in motion for a 3D remake of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby, to be filmed in Sydney later this year.

The timeless novel was perhaps reentered into pop culture through Vinny Chase, after Martin Scorsese offered him the lead role on the fictional Entourage. The book, which many of us will remember from school, portrays the lifestyle of its narrator, Nick Carraway, and his modesty amidst high society conduct.

Premier Kristina Keneally has lauded the decision to utilise the harbour city, especially in light of recent ‘hard times’ for the Australian film industry.

Leonardo Di Caprio will star in the film which is expected to land $120m in investment income for the state of NSW.
