True Detective Creator Hints At Female Protagonists For Second Season

Because Twitter is a flat circle into which you mumble every little thing you want answered by famous people, a place of broader ideas at work where if you start asking the right fucking questions it will be retweeted again and again and again for eternity, a question posed on Twitter this week by ASOS online editor and Pedestrian friend, Lana Guineay, may hold the key to unlocking what Nic Pizzolatto has in store for the second instalment of his thus far brilliant procedural drama anthology, True Detective

We can’t really take Pizzolatto’s since-deleted tweet as definitive proof of anything, that’s for sure, but it’s an idea he certainly seems open to. He more than anyone would be aware of the complex character dynamics possible for a show some quarters of the media have charged with misogynistic treatment of its female characters, who, regardless of whether or not you regard the functions they serve as objectified eye candy, victim, or belligerent ex-wife, are, at the very least, far less interesting than their male counterparts.
With renewal imminent just think of all the fantastic female power duos we could soon see solving crimes together.
