There’s A Petition For Warnie To Donate His ‘I’m A Celeb’ $ To Sick Kids

Rumour has it that walking headline generator Shane Warne copped a sweet $2 – $3 million for his appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, which cruelly and unjustly came to an end this Wednesday.

Rumour also has it that his troubled Shane Warne Foundation – which shut down last month citing ongoing speculation of financial difficulty – had been spending up to 86% of every dollar raised on lavish ‘administration expenses’, such as gala dinners, cricket matches, and poker tournaments.

At last – and you best believe our breathes were held – the two sources of ~ drama ~ have met, because a Change.org petition to get Warnie to donate his I’m A Celebrity… earnings to the sicks kids he was *trying* help has already reached 1,000 signatures.

Started by Aussie tradie Patrick Bell soon after Warnie’s exit from the jungle, the petition is calling on the cricketer to honour his promises to the sick kids he promised to help.

“I’m a tradie and I’ve donated to the kids’ charities Warne’s Foundation was registered to support,” he said. “It was a small amount – just what I could afford – but it got to where it was supposed to go – the sick kids.

“I believe Warney’s (sic) a good bloke. A cricket legend, his Foundation was meant to help Australia’s sickest kids. I admire that. But it lost its way.”

“Media revelations show that Shane Warne Foundation was paying his brother $80k to run the Foundation. In the same year, the Foundation donated just $54k to its charities. His assistant ‘won’ a Mercedes in a raffle. Just 16c out of every dollar actually went to six kids.

“That’s why I reckon Shane Warne should donate his $3 million TV fee back to the sick children he was supposed to be supporting through his Foundation.

“Warne says he entered the jungle to reveal ‘the real him’. Then he discussed his wealth, addiction to money and 20 car basement full of Lamborghinis.

“Let’s see the real you now, Warney – honour your promises to sick kids by donating your TV fee to help the maximum number of kids possible.”

The last we heard from Warnie – so, last night on The Project – he was pretty testy about the Foundation’s rumoured financial troubles; this is what he had to say on Twitter after The Project‘s Waleed Aly asked him about his next course of action with the foundation:
