‘The One I Love’ Is Your New Favourite Elisabeth Moss Vehicle

I’m not sure what’s going on in the surreal first trailer for Charlie McDowell’s feature directorial debut The One I Love, but based on the strength of its two leads in Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass, as well as a premise that’s equal parts Nancy Meyers and Charlie Kaufmann, I’m already intrigued.
Playing off a mostly-improvised screenplay by Justin Lader, the slightly sinister premise behind The One I Love involves a couple on the brink of separation who “escape to a beautiful vacation house for a weekend getaway in an attempt to save their marriage.” What follows looks – well, to quote the trailer, “It’s so weird. It’s really odd.” Also, Ted Danson!
The One I Love has a Stateside release date for late August, and will hopefully follow soon after here.
