Taylor & Calvin Reportedly Split & Now Everyone’s Waiting On Her New Single

While neither party has yet to release an official statement / cryptically morose tweet, the news is spreading across the interwebs like wildfire, and typically, everyone is making the same joke:

Yep. Taylor is known for writing about her relationship breakups, which include (but are not limited to): Jake Gyllenhaal (‘We Are Never Getting Back Together‘), Harry Styles (‘I Knew You Were Trouble‘), Taylor Lautner (‘Back To December‘), John Mayer (‘Dear John‘) and Joe Jonas (‘Last Kiss‘).

Hey – she’s been bloody successful with it. And she’s very aware of her public persona:

Yet Taylor’s persistently heart-broken image has undergone something of a makeover these last eighteen months or so – more or less the same length of time that she and Calvin were dating. With the launch of her mega-successful album ‘1989‘, she moved away from singing about boys, breakups and ‘the other girl’ to making herself the dorky-Barbie doll you wish you had in your squad. Oh, yeah. And squads became a thing. 

But last year, Taylor announced she’d be taking something of a musical hiatus.

“I think I should take some time off,” she told NME at the end of last year. “I think people might need a break from me. I’m going to… I don’t know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

She also hinted that her next album might be vastly different to ‘1989’, which itself was a move to pop music after years of country.

“How could the next one be as big?” she said. “Maybe the next album will be to somewhere else. Or maybe I’ll go ahead and change everything.”

So here we are, fresh after a break-up, left wondering and waiting what Taylor Swift’s gonna give us next, and when.

And we swear to mthrfkn god, if she drops an EDM album after dating Calvin Harris then this world will either explode or implode, and we’ll just have to toss a coin and see which.
