Sydney Mardi Gras’ Financial Report From This Year Shows Significant Losses

Uh oh.
The annual financial report for Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras was released today by the Board, and it showed a financial loss of a whoppin’ $336,057 in the past 15 months.
Last year showed a loss of $177k, which was attributed to ‘lower than expected’ ticket sales. There was minor surpluses in years before that, and a huge $575k loss from 2010.
The Board said that ‘redundancy costs’ plus a write-down of assets were to blame.
According to SameSame.com.au, Mardi Gras has to ‘become financially viable urgently if it’s to continue, as the organisation is now left with just $321.7k in the bank going into the 2016 season’.
OH GOD. C’mon Sydney, lets buy all the tickets, and :
