Sorry Mates, But Netflix Has Binned Its Cult Hit Sci-Fi Series ‘Sense8’

Looks like your pals and ours Netflix are getting itchy trigger fingers when it comes to binning their original content. Cult hit sci-fi series Sense8 is heading for the dumpster after two seasons.

After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end,” Cindy Holland, VP Netflix original content, said in a statement. “It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable.”

The official Sense8 Twitter confirmed the news with a throwback video:

This follows Netflix’s announcement that their hip-hop period piece The Get Down is also getting flushed. Seems like the company is getting much more ruthless about their original productions right now – perhaps trimming the fat now that they have shitloads of original content to distribute.

Reaction from cast, crew and fans has been intense. The show, from the The Wachowskis, known best for The Matrix trilogy, became an extremely popular cult hit – and some aren’t happy that they won’t be getting a proper resolution.

Ah well. RIP.
