The Situation Says Billy McFarland Of Fyre Fest Was A “Bonehead” In Prison

The Situation, Billy McFarland

By some bizarre twist of celebrity fate, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino ended up serving his recent prison sentence in the same facility as noted conman Billy McFarland.

A month on from his release, the Jersey Shore star is sharing stories about his time behind bars, and he’s revealed a few incredibly juicy tidbits about the Fyre Festival founder.

Speaking with his former co-star Snooki on her It’s Happening With Snooki & Joey podcast, he said that McFarland was, for the most part, “quiet” and “reserved” in jail.

“He would say ‘hi,’ but he wasn’t in my group of friends,” Sorrentino said. “I played against him in basketball and softball maybe.”

One particularly dumb move, however got McFarland thrown in solitary confinement. As The Situation explained:

“He supposedly smuggled in some sort of recording device, and he was caught with it. They said he was trying to record high-profile inmates and they threw him in the SHU [solitary housing unit]. They sent him to a worse prison, I think, recently. That’s a bonehead move right there.”

“I don’t even know why he’d be recording in there,” Sorrentino said. “Maybe he was trying to write a book or something? I don’t know.”

Sorrentino served eight months behind bars for tax evasion. McFarland is currently serving six years for defrauding investors to the tune of $27.4 million.
