Shots Fired Between Miley’s Stylist And DI$COUNT UNIVER$E After VMAs Rip-Off

Yesterday, Melbourne designers DI$COUNT UNIVER$E took aim at Miley Cyrus‘s stylist Simone Harouche after the pop star’s VMAs performance, following claims that the outfit she wore during the show’s finale ripped off their signature looks.
The pair have worked with Miley in the past, designing the merch for her Bangerz tour, but had no input in her VMAs look, which was so similar to their own designs that after the fact, people actually congratulated them on their good work.
After DU put out a statement on Instagram, Harouche responded, taking the lowest of possible roads and telling Yahoo Style:
“It’s very sad that people need to use Miley’s amazing performance as an opportunity to create press for themselves, when they had nothing to do with the creative process. It’s unfortunate that they’re taking away from this young designer’s opportunity to make something special for Miley.”

Harouche was referring to emerging designer BCalla, who designed the crew’s outfits on the night, and who has been copping a lot of flack on Instagram since the story broke.
DU have since returned fire at Harouche, in another angry Instagram post:
“Prior to posting ANYTHING on social media we were inundated with interview requests and tags CONGRATULATING US for designing the finale looks of the VMA awards. To actually suggest that we ASKED for it is atrocious. No one ASKS to get hurt. WELL DONE Simone Harouche #VICTIMBLAMING at its finest. Instead of teaching people to stand up for themselves, let’s teach them to shut the fuck up, or they’ll get knocked the fuck down.”
Cami James and Nadia Napreychikov of DI$COUNT UNIVER$E are apparently still working on an official statement. Chances that they spent all night blasting ‘BBHMM’ while drafting it? High.
