Nicki Minaj Slams Miley Cyrus In Interview, Still Wants to Know: What’s Good?

Following up from that time Nicki Minaj verbally slaughtered Miley Cyrus on-stage at the 2015 VMAs, Nicki has elaborated on that on-going beef in an interview with the New York Times, out today.

ICYMI, when the VMA nominations came out and Nicki was snubbed, she fired off a series of tweets about how other, “different” artists with “very slim bodies”, who made a similar cultural impact as she did with ‘Anaconda‘, got nominated for the VMA awards, and she didn’t.

I’m not always confident,” she wrote. “Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much but are rarely rewarded for it.”

A few days later, Miley Cyrus hit back at Nicki’s comments, telling the New York Times: “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite.

Cut to the VMAs – which Miley was hosting – and Nicki, who did end up accepting an award, fukken’ ripped into Miley with the three most iconic words of 2015:

Miley = REKT. Nicki, on the other hand, has given a pretty damn insightful interview to the NY Time about ingrained sexism in the music industry, and why she fired up after Miley’s interview.

“The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls. You’re in videos with black men, and you’re brining out black women on your stages, but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important? Come on, you can’t want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You should want to know that.”

Or, if you want the tl;dr Twitter version:

And can we all just take a moment to feast our eyes on her accompanying NY Times cover photo? Straight up frothing, to be perfectly honest:
