Shaq Announces Retirement Via Twitter

Shaq retired today, capping a nineteen year career which garnered one MVP title, three finals MVP gongs, two scoring titles, fifteen All Star appearances, eight All NBA first team selections and four championship rings. Known for his indomitable physique, boundless charisma and terrible acting career woeful free throw percentage, Shaq commanded attention both on and off the court and is arguably the NBA player non-fans recognize most (bar His Airness of course).

He made the following announcement in a video posted to his “very quotatious” twitter account: “We did it. Nineteen years baby. I want to thank you very much, that’s why I’m telling you first, I’m about to retire. Love you, talk to you soon.”

So long big fella. You played like a seven foot corpse in your last game against Miami so we’re glad to see you go. Thanks for the memories and the following non-basketball related LOLs.
