Scarlett Johannson Cast In Musical Film

Lofty breasted actress and object of my boyfriend’s infatuation Scarlett Johannson has twice attempted to be a singer: firstly withAnywhere I Lay My Head her Tom Waits cover album (which, frankly, is obnoxious), and then Break Up a collaborative album with Pete Yorn inspired by Serge Gainsbourg’s duets with Brigitte Bardot (which makes sense because Brigitte Bardot was also a beautiful actress who could not really sing. Meeeeow! – and yes I am just jealous of her resplendent bosom). Scarlett will soon be embarking on her third musical project, namely the film Can a Song Save Your Life?, in which she has been cast in the lead role.

The film is set in New York and tells the story of a down and out A&R guy who gets it on with a young singer-songwriter from out of town – Scar-Jo. Naturally she does a lot of singing in the film and could possibly be pitching this role as Oscar bait. OR it could go the way of Cross Roads, Coyote Ugly, Burlesque and every other country mouse singer in the big city movie and be simultaneously terrible and awesome. YESSS.

The movie is being helmed by Irish writer-director John Carney (the man behind lovely indie sleeper Once) and Judd Apatow is on board as executive producer.

Shooting begins next year and we can’t help but be curious about this flick.
