Scarlett Johansson to Star in ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Movie

It seems like, at some point, almost everyone in Hollywood has been linked to Ghost In The Shell. Most recently, Australia’s Margot Robbie was in talks for a role in the live action adaptation of the popular Japanese animation.
As of today, however, it appears Scarlett Johansson has been cast in a key role. Uproxx report that Johansson was offered $10 million to star, partly because her action film Lucy made $394 million worldwide, and Dreamworks would be mad not to want a piece of that.
Ghost In The Shell began life as a manga, but is best known for the 1995 movie, about the search for a sinister hacker called ‘The Puppeteer’ in a technologically advanced world.
Now that this has been announced, the internet can once again resume arguing about whether it’s cool or necessary for Americans to adapt other countries’ cultural products. For the record, we are hella excited.
