Sex And The City star and avid hat wearer Sarah Jessica Parker is heading to Melbourne for this year’s Spring Racing Carnival as a guest of Crown, the major sponsor of Oaks Day. No horse jokes please.
A spokesperson for Crown confirmed that SJP will be on deck at, what is widely considered, Australia’s most glamorous race day of the year: “Ms Parker is a ubiquitous New York fashion icon and her attendance at the Crown Oaks Day, traditionally ladies’ day, will add to the international cache of the day.”
Last night Parker appeared on Hamish And Andy’s Gap Year during which she revealed that she would be attending Derby Day, so she’ll probably be around for the entire Melbourne Cup Carnival. So the question is, like any first time pilgrim to Melbourne’s loosest week of the year, will she too go home several thousand dollars lighter, down a shoe, drenched in cold sweat and a carrying a hangover comparable to the worst strain of Ebola Virus?
