Rose Byrne Scores A Significant Role In ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Australia’s own Rose Byrne has been kicking all kinds of Hollywood arse lately, from Bridesmaids to The Neighbours to the upcoming Spy, in which she co-stars alongside Melissa McCarthy.
This week, it has been confirmed that Byrne, who first appeared in 2011’s X-Men: First Class, will have a “significant” role in the franchise’s upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse.
Well played, Byrne.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer Simon Kinberg revealed that Apocalypse, which is set in the early ’80s, will feature the return of Byrne’s Moira McTaggert character, and build on her relationship with James McAvoy‘s Professor X.
“It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one,” Kinberg said.
Alexandra Shipp will play a younger version of Storm in the upcoming film, while Tye Sheridan will play a young Cyclops. Sophie Turner – that’s Sansa Stark if you’re nasty – will play a young Jean Grey.
Kinberg says the film will lean heavily on ’80s nostalgia. “That’s the era that I grew up in,” he said. “The music, the fashion, the video games – we really want to integrate all of that in the movie, and have it infuse the movie with a different vibe.”
