Rebel Wilson has been forced to deny rumours she’s lying about her real name and age, after a totally trustworthy and not-at-all dodgy anonymous source told Woman’s Day about her “real background.”
“I studied with Rebel at Tara Anglican School for Girls in North Parramatta, Sydney,” said the source. “But no-one knew of a Rebel Wilson. Her name is – or was – Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, and she’s 36 – she was born in 1979 and we left school in 1997.”
“She’s clearly got a vivid imagination,” the source continued. “Maybe you have to tell stories to make it in Hollywood!” The magazine also ran a photo supposedly showing a young Rebel as part of the debating team.
The parting shot? “She was definitely not the class clown; none of us remember her being funny.”
Wilson, currently on the publicity trail for Pitch Perfect 2, responded to the rumours on Twitter overnight, calling out the Australian press with typical sass for running with them.
OMG I’m actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as “CC Chalice” ….thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x

The huge success of Pitch Perfect 2 means you’ll likely be seeing her in Pitch Perfect 3 at some point soon.
