Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Set To Come To Australia For A Spot Of Polo

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, otherwise known as the reason why even the most cynical amongst us has suddenly taken a keen interest in the British royal family, will reportedly be paying an official visit to our humble former prison island next year.

The pair announced their engagement in late November, and Markle has since begun attending official engagements. Per reports in the Herald Sun, there are currently “secret talks” underway to bring the pair to Melbourne in 2018 for a charity polo match.

The Victorian government were reportedly approached about the event some time ago, but did not think to sell us sooner (rude); the Herald Sun claims that planning is well underway, but the government is still in the process of raising corporate funds to finalise the deal.

Harry and his brother William regularly take part in charity polo matches, which typically raise millions of dollars for their causes of choice. Clarence House have not confirmed the Australian visit as yet, but have said travel plans will be announced after Harry and Meghan Markle’s May wedding.

The 2018 Invictus Games, the event founded by Prince Harry for injured servicemen and women, will take place in Sydney from October 20 to 27, and it is expected that the couple will attend this event also, as they did the 2017 games in Toronto.

Since news of the royal engagement broke, the Australian government has displayed precisely zero chill in its attempts to lure the couple down here, with federal tourism minister Steve Ciobo contacting Clarence House with a list of adventure holiday options for Harry’s buck’s party.

He proposed a helicopter-assisted pub crawl, a barramundi fishing expedition, or a jet packing adventure on the Gold Coast, which sounds like a super fun thing to do after a night on the piss. Alternatively, he proposed some “slower, contemplative” honeymoon options for the pair.

Whatever happens, it sounds like Harry and Meghan will be here soon, so be on your best behaviour.
